Hello, my name is Mia. I am looking for that special someone to take me home. I love long strolls across the kitchen counter. You’ll want to be someone who enjoys a challenge, because depending on the species, I play hard to get. If you are a human, I tend to be shy and take my time before getting too familiar with you. If you are a cat, I tend to love you right away and be a bit clingy. A few of my hobbies: I really enjoy watching Star Wars (probably because of the light sabers) and endlessly trying to rescue a ball stuck in a circular track. I still haven’t managed to rescue said ball. I’m on attempt 3,875. I like to play with laser points and dangling fishing-rod style toys -- both of which are usually how I prefer to have initial contact with humans I don’t know.
Now a note from my foster humans:
Mia is a female tabby that we think is somewhere between 3-4 years old. She came to us as a stray when she had just given birth to two kittens that have since been adopted. She was cautious of us at first. We are happy to say she has made a lot of progress with us. Now we can actually pet her almost any time, but she still doesn’t come to us to be pet or to lay in our laps. Mia did test positive for FIV, but this shouldn’t be a problem because she gets along well with other cats. She loves our residential cats, and she would definitely need to go to a home that would have another cat playmate. She probably wouldn’t be a good fit for a household of children, as lots of human movement makes her extra cautious. She is incredibly playful, and can’t resist laser pointers, toys or catnip. She can be a bit sassy and meow at you when walking by her. She plays hard to get, but seems to do this for attention. She gets comfy at the foot of our bed each night while we sleep. We think that one day she will end up trusting the right person enough to actually be a lap cat, but trust will need to be built. She isn't a “pick me up and cuddle me” cat, but she can be very sweet and charming, especially with other cats.
