“Oh, yes, come talk to me! I am used to people who talk to me, listen to me, let me do a bit of caretaking. If I had to come up with one word for me, I’d say ‘motherly’. I’m not sure I’ve ever been a mother, but I’ve mothered people, ever since one person rescued me from a lonely rest stop.”

“It’s just a bit too quiet in here. I don’t make a lot of noise myself, but I do like to hear conversation. Would you converse with me? Oh, good! Good! See how affectionate I am? I love to rub your hands, look in your eyes and see who you are in there. I know you’re in there – talk to me! Think about taking me home!”

“I’ve had a few too many homes – more like boarding houses, I’d say. Friendly people, good people, even an OK dog or two, but I’d like to settle down in my forever place, not have to think ‘Where am I?’ every day when I wake up. Yes, I’m Minnie, and I am just about as lovey as a slightly pudgy girl cat can be.”

“Minnie, Minnie – a rather old-fashioned name, very suited to a motherly, matronly woman like me. If I were a human, I’d be wearing a blue-flowered apron, maybe a red plaid one, and I’d always smell a bit of flour. I’m glad I’m not a human because those aprons would cover up my classic tabby self. And I like being classic. And I don’t smell of flour because I am a fastidious washer. Surprised I know such big words?”
