“Wow! Pardon me if I seem a bit overwhelmed. I guess I am. I know I look like a big burly dude, maybe a linebacker or something, but I’m not – really I’m not. I’m only about 8 months old. See – right there on my chart – it says ‘kitten food’. So I must be a kitten. And I am still trying to figure it all out. What am I doing here? Not only at Feline Rescue, but in this world. Wow!”
“If I am a kitten, that must mean I am working my way toward being a Cat. Well, now that has possibilities. Let’s see – I see have some tabby-striped fur and some white fur. When I catch my reflection in the glass, I think I see a pink nose and some whiskers. Tell you what, how about scratching my chin, and we’ll see if I like it? Hmmm – I do like it. Maybe I am a Cat. Hmmm.”
“Here’s my story as I know it. I was born outside, but my mom and some other cats took good care of me. We had people who brought us food. Mom said we could trust those people, but to be wary of other creatures on two legs – also of creatures that barked. So I’m figuring out which two-leggeds I can trust – and which I can’t. You seem friendly. Are you friendly? I sure would like a two-legged friend – my personal one. Do you have food?”
“I’m told I’m handsome – not sure what that means – but it sounds good. People say I’m wearing black eyeliner, but that I’ve smeared some across my cheeks. How about scratching my chin again? See if I still like it? Oh, I think I do. And I don’t think I’m a linebacker or even a machinist. I think I’m more of a geek. Want some software installed? No, you won’t like Windows 8. Trust Tony – you won’t.”
“Want a Cat? I think I am a Cat. Cat is Good. Cat is Solid. Cat does not install software. Cat walks around looking handsome, eating kitten food, occasionally asking for some chin scratching, and working on figuring out my role in the universe. I’m Tony, and I’m sure I have one. If you’ll stop in with $120 and take me home and be my personal two-legged friend, I’ll figure it out. I’m sure I will!”
