“OK, hello. I’m sorry, but I’m confused. Here I am – a very handsome, mostly black fellow with white highlights, never did a mean thing to so much as a bug – and I’m locked up with a bunch of strangers – well, except for my brother Lindt downstairs. He’s confused, too. Why are we here? Why aren’t we home? What happened to our people?”

“Hey, big guy, it’s OK. Your people just couldn’t take care of you and Lindt any more. Sometimes that happens. It’s OK – you’re here to find your new people, forever people. In the meantime, we, the Feline Rescue people, are going to love you and admire you and bring you food – and tell everybody that you’re here and you’re waiting for them.”

“Promise it’s going to be OK? I can tell you’re all fine folks, but you don’t know me. Do I need to tell my story again? Will you write it down so my new people will understand me? Well, OK, then….”

“I’m gentle and quiet and kind. In this life, I’ve been on earth about 3 years. I feel rather medieval, probably English, possibly from Yorkshire. I am pretty sure that, in that life, I lived in a monastery. I walked the halls and firmly advised rodents to depart forthwith. Occasionally, I had to help one depart. Beyond that, I didn’t transcribe scriptures or create illuminated books. Nothing so fancy about me. I brewed ale for the brothers. Yes I did. And good ale, too.”

“That’s Cadbury’s story. It’s what he says. He’s a smart fellow, and he’s hoping for his new forever people soon, so he can learn his new space and end his confusion. If, like his monks, you brew ale, Cadbury will help roll the barrels. If you don’t, he’ll sit with you and purr. All you have to do is understand him and feed him. $120, he says. Should you want two fine fellows, consider his brother Lindt. $235 for their furry team.”
