“Hello, I guess. I am Dianna. I am lovely and black with a classic round and royal face. I am not going to tell you I am happy to be here – because I am not. I had a good home, a fine home, but my person simply could not take care of me – or herself – any longer. She knew that I would be safe here and that I would find new people. But I would still rather be where I was for several years.”

“Here is better than in the alleys or in the woods. Here is better than a barn. Here is better than fighting off raccoons. Here is quiet and warm. Here has good food. But I don’t have my people. I see many people. I see you. But do I trust you? Can I trust you? I would like to. Here is so different from where I have been. Here has other cats. They seem like good beings, but how should I know?”

“Dianna was a goddess, you know. A powerful goddess with cat spirit in her soul. Dianna was also Artemis and, possibly, Bastet, so Dianna should not be taken lightly. She has power. She would like to share her power again with a person or two. Here, I found, is what you should say to make our connection: ‘Great goddess Diana, the sacred goddess of all cats, I invoke your power in my present life. I honor your grace and your mystery.’”

“The book says you should hold a moonstone while you say this. I do not have a moonstone for you. Perhaps those two fluffy fellows could find us one so we can connect. I am soft and black. I did my very best to care for my former human. I will do the same for you. I know – I sound a bit crabby, but my little cat heart was really broken. I cried too much. You could mend my heart. Just trust me – let me trust you – say the right words – and bring $120. Take me there – there where you are. I am Dianna.”
