“People say there might once have been a softer, more serene and peaceful, cat than I. But, if so, she was a long, long time ago and likely walked in the steps of a holy woman, teaching peace to the world. I am Ellie of the sweetest face, a little bit tortie but mostly love. I am Ellie of the softest fur. I am Ellie.”

“When I was very, very young, something nasty, something mean, hurt me. It did not want to see peace and serenity in its world. Thus, I call myself a gimp. One bad leg out of four; that’s OK. One fringy ear; that’s OK, too. They don’t bother me – why would they? I can still snatch a moth off of a wall. I am Ellie, and it is good to be me.”

“I want to love my people, sit in their laps, and smile at them. I am a peaceful, contented lady. I am ready to be your lady. It is good to love and be loved. I pet you with my chin. I am young enough to find toys fascinating and old enough to understand many things. I have few questions. Well, maybe, when is dinner? Dinner is good. So is breakfast. And lunch.”
