The Orange Tabby

“People tell stories about me; I know they do. People have been telling stories about me for a long, long time. I’ve been out and about and living a very long life in Puddleby-on-the-Marsh, so they say. People say I am a human who can talk to animals and understand what they say. Good grief, people! It’s not hard to speak and understand Cat! I am a Cat – of course, I speak and understand it.”

“I think it’s time to tell my own story, just to be sure you folks don’t mess it up. Here goes! I am The Orange Tabby – not just an orange tabby – The Orange Tabby. I am so Orange that I speak it in many languages – naranja, apelsin, machungwa, maroozowee – Spanish, Swedish, Swahili, and Cat. Cat! Cat! I do like that word – Cat! Gato! Katt! Paka! Meee!

“I am a soft friendly, laid back guy who likes nothing better than naps except good food, happy humans. I pose for you – what do you think? Might I be the centerfold in Playcat? My case notes, so I read, say that I was “stray”. Not so. I have been exploring since 1809 when I went to the North Pole. True. I was with Lewis and Clark and also Dr. Livingston. These days what I’d most like to explore is your abode. Abode – house, apartment, castle, condo – you know, where you live.”

“I will tell you stories that I’ve heard from penguins and anteaters and poodles and even beetles. I will stretch out across your furniture and provide decoration. I will charm you and your visitors. I will collect good stories from the other cats in this hotel. I am Dr. Dolittle. As you can see from my pictures, I do not look like Eddie Murphy. I look like The Orange Tabby – because that is who I am. How about it? $120 for Meee and all my great stories!”
