Rita is an example of what Feline Rescue is all about. Rita was found living in a wooded area with her mate Cockatoo (who has since been adopted), her adult son Sir Reginald, and her new litter of kittens. Cockatoo and Reginald helped Rita take care of her kittens because Rita had quite a difficult time getting around. She had been hit by a car quite some time before she was found. Her injury healed on its own but it did not heal properly. Feline Rescue took in Rita, Cockatoo, Sir Reginald, and her litter of kittens. Unfortunately, since Rita's leg did not heal properly during her time on her own outdoors, her front leg had to be amputated. She has recovered quite nicely and gets around wonderfully on three legs.
Despite her rough beginnings, Rita has retained a sweet and calm disposition. She loves to curl up on her favorite chair to take a nap, thankful to be inside where it's warm (and there are no scary cars). Once she gets to know you, she will let you hold her. She then clings to you, laying her head on your shoulder, absolutely happy that she's loved.
Her kitten Butterscotch loves that his momma is warm (and he loves her for other reasons). He is constantly snuggling up to her (when he's not playing and zipping around). If Rita happens to be in a bed that isn't big enough to accommodate two cats, Butterscotch will just lay on her back. He really loves his momma.
