“Well, hello – I think. My friends call me Luca, and my friends, right now, are other cats. Marlin, way up there, is one. See, I think of me as a fine dilute tortie lady; if I sit right in the light, you can see my tortieness. Otherwise, see a soft gray lady. I’ve been at a foster home for a while, recovering from my former life. I am not sure if it was Charles Dickens or Stephen King who wrote the scenario for my early years, but I don’t want those guys writing the rest of my life.”

“I am a soft and good-hearted woman. I was trapped in a foreclosed house with 40 or 50 of my feline friends and relatives. We had no food; we had no water. And we couldn’t get out. Scared. Terrified. Doing our best to take care of each other. Someone sent a flock of Feline Rescue angels. By the way, thank you, angels for finding us. Please forgive me if I seem a bit shell-shocked. I am. If I were a human, you’d know right away that I have a bit of post-traumatic stress disorder. Wouldn’t you?”

“I am learning to live in the light. I still can’t quite believe that people love me. You pet me! You don’t hit me! I think I could live in the light with you. Someone told me that the humans have a new movie – about a fellow who was kidnapped and sold into slavery. Perhaps my cat friends and I were enslaved! Awful! Awful!”

“I’d like to talk about the good times to come. Assure me that they will. I think I am working up my nerve to ask for a hug. I can see myself, safe and warm, sitting on a comfortable chair and wearing a big hat with a floppy mauve rose on it. Why? Because mauve looks good on tortie.”

“I know I’m free now. I know I have food. I am seeking my forever person – or people – and I will ask them to hug me – because Luca is a huggable woman inside her true cat soul. Come visit me at Feline Rescue. Bring $120, and invite me to come home with you. Luca would like that.”

If you'd like to know more about me, just stop in at the Adoption Center to meet me or leave a message for my secretary at 651-642-5900 ext. 3. She'll call you back.
