“Whenever you hear someone say ‘cute as a bug’s ear’, remember that they’re only saying ‘cute as a bug’s ear’ because they haven’t met us. Otherwise, they’d say ‘cute as Rose and Violet’ 0r ‘cute as Violet and Rose.’ We are sisters and, at most, six months old. We are still growing, and we are still as unpredictably amusing as teenaged cats always are.”
“But, wait until you meet us. Violet is black and I, Rose, who does most of the talking, am brown. I mean Brown – not brown like a tabby – Brown like the ears of a Siamese, Brown like the tail of a Burmese. Are we Siamese or Burmese or Havanas? Some of our ancestors certainly were. As for us, we know – for sure – that we’re Cats. We’ve emailed Henry Louis Gates to see if he will help us ‘Find Our Roots’. Sure hope he doesn’t tell us that we’re not Cats – that we’re coatimundis or something.”
”Oh, goody, do we love people! Especially me, Rose. I climb on you. I sit in your lap. I purr. I giggle. I snuggle. And the first second you’re not looking I am running off with your pen. We are cheerleaders. OK, we are also troublemakers – but only fun trouble, not destructive, dangerous trouble – we leave that stuff to the guy cats. So far as we’ve heard, girl cats don’t climb in the ceiling. Nope – only guy cats. Play with us, play with us, we never get tired of playing with you!”
"Our foster mom says, 'They would be great for a family with kids. Both are great with cats. They are playful, curious and also very affectionate. They like being petted and held. Rose just loves attention. Her brown coloring is rare and beautiful. Violet is adventurous and outgoing. Both girls lived with children and dogs in their foster home."
“Of course we have toys! Surely you didn’t think Feline Rescue wouldn’t have toys for us! Oh, do we have toys! We like the red cube – I go in it and then roll it across the floor. We also like feathers – ooh – feathers. And, then, there’s The Wheel. Kind of like the thing hamsters have, only much bigger. Cat-sized. I just walk in and start running, and it goes around and around and around. If a hamster walks in with me, I gotta be honest. He’s my mid-afternoon snack.”
“So are you ready for twice as cute as a bug’s ear? Because there’s two of us, and we’re sisters, and we are teenagers and unpredictably amusing. Feline Rescue says that, for $260, we can go home with you. We’d like to do that! Spread the word: if it’s cute, it’s Rose and Violet.”
