“Hello, how do you do!! I am Bennett. I am young and handsome and quite corporate. A tabby with white feet and a fine mind. I was in line to be promoted to VP of Sales at a major food company, but they said, ‘Bennett, you’re just too shy for Sales. You’ve got to be out there shaking paws and slapping backs!’ And I said, ‘Well, I prefer to sit behind a desk – or maybe on the desk – and think great thoughts and sign contracts.’”

“And that’s what I intended to do – until Animal Control came along, took away my pen, and sent me here. I’m looking for a new job now, a job as your corporate cat with a fine mind and a better pen. I’ll sit on your desk or on your lap because I’m a nice guy with excellent stripes and very white paws. My former employer was right. I’m a bit shy for Sales but not for purring and washing my feet with my very own people. I just don’t do conventions and rah-rah very well. But I can snuggle into a human just fine!”

“I’ll tell you what else I can do. I explore. How about a real, live Indiana Jones in your life? I’m with Indy – I hate snakes! But I love exploring the unknown. I’ve been in Feline Rescue’s ceiling twice now! Up on the tower, push up the ceiling panel, and in I go! Better than Patagonia or Panama! I saw the Mayan ruins that Dastardly Dave saw some years ago. I also saw great waterfalls and a corner of Shangri-La and, I think, a quite dead possum. Oh, and Amelia Earhart’s plane! But not Amelia. And I didn’t see anything to eat. Bummer.”

“Then some human came along and closed up the ceiling. So…how about if Bennett takes up exploring at your place? Kitchen cupboards? With food? A hall closet – I rather like mops and brooms. But the humans here won’t let me in that other room to play with theirs. Bummer. Could we do this? How about you come over here and meet me? Do bring your $120 because you will fall in love. Bennett says so. I’ll go exploring at your place – not in your ceiling, though. Maybe in the pots and pans?
