First there is the matter of names. The Vanalikalikes are called that because they look like Vanalikes, who are cats that look like Turkish Vans. Turkish Vans are white with darker caps and tails. So Vanalikes look like Turkish Vans, but without the "papers." And Vanalikalikes look like Vanalikes, except their tails are white with one gray spot rather than all gray. OK, maybe that's an inside joke. Anyway, the Vanalikalikes were surrendered to Feline Rescue after their mother went missing when they were about three weeks old, so they needed an experienced kitten caregiver to bottle feed them. And they have first names, too: Georgie, Pookie, Puddin, and Pi. Puddin is the girl.
Spud is a colloquial name for a potato, but in this case Spud was named by the vet tech where he was surrendered for care when he was 4 weeks old. Since he appeared to be the same age as the Vanalikalikes he was added to the litter, and they've been one big, happy though motherless family in foster care ever since. We often refer to Spud as "Cousin Spud" or "Spuddy."
When my grandmother got old enough to move into a retirement community, she had a fluffy white cat who slept curled on her bed. Sadly, the cat was a toy, because she wasn't allowed to have a real cat in that community. These kittens remind me of her perfect fluffy white cat, extraordinarily soft and cuddly, very sweet natured, and beautiful, too. Of course, they are entering adolescence, so they are high-energy bundles of purring naughtiness sometimes as well.
The Vanalikalikes and Spud are hoping to go to a home together in groups of two (or more!), or to a home that already has a compatible cat or two. They are also comfortable with children (of the human variety.) And if your grandmother is looking for a gentle feline companion, well, one of these might be just perfect.
These kitties were born on or about 7/7/2008, and will be available for adoption after November 5th. They have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and are up-to-date on shots.
If you're interested in hearing more about them, please call Joan at 612.825.4056.
Their adoption fee is $115 each.
