I am Basil - as in British, as in Victorian farce, as in gentlemen's club chewing more than puffing a curved and carved pipe. I am not Basil as in make pesto, garnish tomatoes, or blend with cream cheese. A big, big difference here that I want to be sure you notice because I am a young black cat fellow - not always well-seen if I am in a dark space - and I don't want my people to go sniffing for herbs when they are really seeking the cat of their dreams - which would be, of course, me.

I came here to Feline Rescue because it was getting quite cold on the porch where I'd been living. Really kind people who fed me and all, but we agreed I needed to go to a warm well-lit place where my real people could - and would - see me. Are you seeing me? I hope? So I'm pleased that I'm warm and safe - but, frankly, I'm getting bored. I see no mice. I see no birds. I have no mail carriers to stare at. A toy or two - but I need people, action, cameras, lights!

I'll just sit in the window and watch the birds - honest. Might daydream of a tasty nuthatch, but I won't act on the daydream. Won't make pesto out of nuthatches, either. I'm still a young guy, so I need to exercise my imagination and my body. I think - I even know - that your home would be just the place to do that. Inside - where it's warm, where I have my corners and blankies in which to curl myself. Oooh - snuggly nice. I won't even bring the pipe, and I'll try to remember not to say, "A pip of a day, good man!" too often. Basil - waiting here for his people. His people - bringing $100 to post my bail - well, that's how I feel - and take me home and love on me.
