Io is a young and beautiful mom with a tuxedo pattern and “frosted” coat - just enough white underneath the black fur to make her look "sparkly".  She is truly breathtaking.  And so the legend goes that Zeus became enamored with her beauty and pursued Io for some time. But Hera found out, and in a fit of jealousy, turned her into a cow. Poor Io wandered the lands aimlessly until Zeus sent a friend to turn her back to her former self. She became a queen, and then later a moon goddess. And that is how we find her today. She is still shy, understandably – after all, you never know when some crazy goddess will turn her wrath on you! But in her eyes, she seeks a trusting relationship. She simply needs time, patience, and a soothing voice to feel secure and comfortable. She has one son, Atlas – whose “cow” coat reflects his mother's former bovine incarnation. Io and Atlas are a loving pair, and very loyal to each other. His outgoing personality helps her to be less afraid, and she is still young and vigorous, so he always has a playmate. They need a stable and relatively quiet home-base so they can get on with the business of governing the universe.
