“What? You think I should stay in a kennel? I would prefer not to.” You see, I am soft, totally friendly, and so not into proofreading or any other tedious tasks. I am into humans. I love them! I talk to them. I play with them. I tease. And I so do not want to be in a kennel ever again forever more. I need my people! Where are my people? Please, come now and take me home.

See me – I am Bartleby – I am orange. I have long legs. I see you and I talk to you. I am strong. I am solid. I am a Cat.

Now, then – Hear Me! Oh, I don’t mean my singing – of course I sing….”Somewhere, over the rainbow….” Pay attention to the purring you are about to hear. “Uh, no, you are not being pursued by one of those big black helicopters. That’s me – Bartleby – purring.” There are cats who do motorcycle and cats who do cement mixer and cats who do speedboat – but I – Bartleby the Orange Wonder – do helicopter! Am I wonderful? I am wonderful.

“Uh, oh, you weren’t paying attention, were you? I got out of the dang kennel! Wheehaw!” “You want me to go back in? I would prefer not to.”  Now, listen, I really would prefer not to.

You just had to insist, didn’t you? Watch me – I stick paws through bars and pull on them. I intend to take kennel apart. I do not like kennel. Watch me – I fling munchies through the bars – two at a time – all over the floor. Stop that, you say? “Ah, I would prefer not to.”

I am so totally friendly and so totally in need of a special warm home where I can do helicopter all day long and stretch my long orange self out and sleep on your fine furniture. $100 for my lifelong salary – well, that, and the price of some good food and nice litter and some excellent toys. A bargain – so long as I’m not required to proofread anything. You see – I would prefer not to.
