What is the meaning of this kennel? What is the purpose of my placement in this kennel? Or - am I placed in it? Perhaps, rather, it is placed around me - and I am not in it at all. What is the meaning and the purpose? Can we agree, then, that, if the kennel is around me that I must be a Cat? That the kennel must not be a Cat - but rather a Kennel? What is the purpose, then, of Cat?

That is absolutely all I have to say about my name. I think it's quite enough, don't you? As I recall, the last fellow named Socrates was so annoying with his questions after questions after questions that someone put hemlock in his water bowl - and I most certainly do not wish to have that happen to me!

Introducing myself as a fine and mellow tabby gentleman with a wise face and mind. Introducing myself as a well-mannered soul who takes naps, sleeps in laps, adapts well, and is not at all ancient nor Greek. Making full disclosure now about myself - I was out and about, fending for myself, avoiding angry mobs of anti-philosophers and surly dogs. Picked up, alas, from someone somewhere the FeLV. So I have to take very good care of myself - and could surely use some human help in doing so. Also could surely use some human friends, a human family. I'm pretty fond of other cats, too, so long as they don't want to hang out in the marketplace and discuss the nature of things. I am so done with all that. I know - I can only be fond with other FeLV folks - not more fortunate felines. But there's plenty of us out there - who knew what hissing and spitting and yowling at other cats could lead to?

Now I'd just like to cuddle myself to sleep with you. Do you suppose that could happen? I suppose that it could. I am fond of people, good to people, warm to people - and am now very much hoping that people - you - fine people - will be warm to me in this cold weather. Please come to Feline Rescue, bringing $100 to cover the cost of the days I've spent with this kennel around me. Understand that I am not in it; it, rather, is around me. And, no, my name may be Socrates but I do not know what the meaning of it is. Let's just go home!
