It’s OK. I am definitely not a Danish philosopher. I can’t even spell Kierkegaard, much less would I want to be him. I quote just one thing that guy said, “What the age needs is not a genius—it has had geniuses enough….” He didn’t make much sense, though. I say, “What the age needs is not a genius—it has had geniuses enough. What the age needs now is a Fine Cat.” And that I am – A Fine Cat. Not a Norwegian Forest Cat, though – could have been one if I’d grown bigger – but I didn’t.

 

I’m just A Fine Cat – a little flash of sunrise on my honest, intelligent face – a pretty face – but not just another pretty face. A special pretty face, backed up by an inquiring mind. I inquire often of other cats, “Would you like to play? Aw, come on out of there and play.” Am I flirting with her? Of course – it’s what I do – and she is lovely, don’t you think? I’m exploring for a home right now, and I think I’d like that home to have another cat in it – one of my many fine friends that I’ve recently made here at Feline Rescue. I’m a social fellow – that’s what they say.

 

Yes, I’m A Fine Cat. I’m in favor of toys and action and lovely girl cats who hide in baskets. I do Good Cat Things. I attack the Purple Mouse. I throw it up in the air, and I catch it. Then I run with it in my mouth. Yes, I know, it’s missing its head. I heard that some Danish philosopher tore it off. He was having a bad day, they said. I don’t have bad days. I’m Soren, and I have fun.

 

Want to have fun with me? You can! Just love me and respect me and play with me. The headless Purple Mouse is a toy. I am not a toy. I am A Fine Cat. Not too big, not too small. Just right. And only $100 takes me home with you. Really. That is true. Another $100 could take along one of my friends. Do consider it – but, most of all, consider Me. Soren. A Fine Cat.
