I greet you softly and sweetly. I’m a young girly-girl, a girl’s girl, a shyly flirtatious lady, and I purr. Right now, that seems like the best thing to do. I had people. Apparently, they just up and went off and left me behind. Now, how could anyone do that? When you meet me, you won’t believe it, either. But they did. So I decided I’d better just sit down and purr until my new – and forever – people find me here – because I know you will.

I am Calypso because I am all the colors of the Caribbean. The Caribbean doesn’t do grey monotones. Calypso women are bright and spicy. I am also Calypso because I used to work in an ice cream parlor. I did! Really. And my favorite flavor was pineapple-coconut – with a topping of turkey. Really. OK – I’m being silly. I’m a young, playful girl, and silly is a thing I do. I want family. I want to be family. Feminine felines and family just go together.

Now for some good secrets: I like to knead and knit on friendly people. It’s my way of saying I like you – please, oh please, like me! And now you see! I knead your arm with extra toes! Not just little feet. Rather big feet – one that’s speckled like a bird’s egg – and one that looks like, maybe, grandma was a puma. Probably a little puma, though.

So – I have extra toes – more to love with, more to knead with, more with which to pounce anything that needs pouncing. Because of my many toes, I am called a polydactyl. That means “many toes” – surprise. It also means that, if you bring your $100 over and take me to my forever and ever home, you may hang a sign that says “Beware of Polydactyl”. Annoying relatives and unfriendly others will think “pterodactyl” – and they’ll go away! What more would anyone want from a wonderful cat? And I, Calypso, am wonderful. Hug me.

PS: I currently reside at THE ADOPTION CENTER (not in foster care). If you can't stop in but would like to know more about me, please call 651-642-5900, ext.3. Thanks!
