My fellow Americans. I have some great, important news. I, TomCat, am running for President. And why not? Everybody else is. I'm certainly the perfect candidate. I'm charming, personable, laidback, and outgoing. I'm an excellent orator. I can talk pleasantly for hours without saying anything of serious substance. Listen: I believe in freedom, fairness, liberty, and a world-class economy. I am the perfect candidate. Did I mention how telegenic I am? A good solid square jaw - that's important. And no Nixon five-o-clock shadow on this cat. Pure, soft, buff fur with a hint of tabby. Diplomatic, wise, and sociable. Perfect.

My platform is simple: Dinner in every dish. Water in every bowl. Good homes for all cats. Fish in the rivers. Birds in the trees. Peace to all humans. Bones for all dogs. Regular shoulder rubs and chin scratches for me. Toys, toys, toys for everybody. Sounds like a pretty good world to me. How about you?

Maybe you have a pretty good home for me? How about a very good home? A fabulous home? I know I could be a good President, but I also know I could be a great Friend. President or Friend? It's up to you. To tell the truth, I think I'd rather be a Friend to you than the President. Presidents spend a lot of time in limousines and airplanes. I'd rather spend a lot of time on your lap and your sofa. So, do enjoy my campaign speeches, and donate $90 to my campaign - my manager is around here somewhere. Then let's go home and watch the remaining candidates on your TV - until we fall asleep, of course.
