“Well, my goodness! All this is so new and different for me! I’m not sure where I’ve been, but I know that, wherever it was, it didn’t feel good like this! I’ve always been, as young as I am, a nice woman – a good, kind, and generous cat. But the world? Not nearly as nice as I.”
“So, I am just stunned to be here – where the rain stays outside, where I am welcome inside, and I even get real food and a soft blankie. And people come up and talk to me and say, ‘Hi, there, you pretty girl – would you like me to pet you?’ Would I ever! Wow! Imagine that!”
“And even that goofy black and white cat with the short ears, who stands up on his hind legs just to look at me, says friendly things like ‘Say, cutie, mind if I come up and see you some time?’ Wow!”
He says I have a very pretty face; a couple of people have said that, too. I’ve never seen my own face, but I do see my lovely white feet on what appears to be a fluffy long-haired raisin-colored body. I think that makes me interesting, don’t you? The wild guy says he’s never met a girl cat with grey eyes before. I’ll bet that makes me interesting, too. So I am interesting! Wow to that, too!
I heard someone say, “I wonder if she’s one of those Siberian cats that are supposed to be good for people with allergies.” Well, I’ve no idea if I’m Siberian or not. I didn’t even know I was a cat until I got here and saw the sign: “Very Fancy Hotel – Cats Only”. So you’re welcome to take a sniff and see if I make you sneeze or not. But please pet me softly when you do, OK? And, just in case you missed my earlier explanation, I am called “Raisin” because I am rather raisin-colored. I am certainly not a dried-up old grape. And if you give me a sniff, you’ll see I do not smell like Fresno! In fact, that short-eared fellow tells me I smell Niicce! Oooh!
I just know my arrival at this Hotel is the beginning of a whole new life for me – a good life, a safe life, a loved life. I can’t wait. Are you my loving people? Show me. Pet me. Talk to me. Wow! Oh, and I guess you should bring $100 to cover my rent on this cubicle and blankie. That’s not much for a great life for both of us. Raisin is interesting. Wow!
PS: I currently reside at THE ADOPTION CENTER (not in foster care). If you can't stop in but would like to know more about me, please call 651-642-5900, ext.3. Thanks!
