A long time ago – well, more than thirty years ago, anyway – someone wrote a song about me. The song said, “Hey there! Georgie girl - Dreaming of the someone you could be - Life is a reality, you can't always run away. Don't be so scared of changing and rearranging yourself. It's time for jumping down from the shelf a little bit.”
All I can say is, “Will you look at me now!! Am I rearranged! Am I down from the shelf! Am I beautiful, stunning, and worth watching?” I left the dowdy feathers in an ashcan. I’m showing off luminous green eyes in a a creamy face, in warm soft colors of a calm summer day. But, just when you think, “Ah, a classy cream cat with memorable green eyes and a tuft of tabby on her dainty head….” – I turn around!
“Will you look at me now!! A full tabby calico tail! Not a cream tail, not a white tail. A full tabby calico tail – and a well-designed one, too.” Did I trade in an ordinary cream tail for this kaleidoscopic display of all the Colors of Cat? And a calico tattoo on my hip? “Well, you know, I am just not going to tell you that. Did she or didn’t she? Not for anyone but me to know.”
I love people. I will pet you. You may pet me. I will give you hand bumps and blink my warm eyes for you. What I won’t do is race around and carry on and whoop under rugs like some of these wild women around here. Georgie Girl is a lady now. A young lady – but a lady. She has class. She sells sea shells by the seashore. Also salt water taffy – pale greens and pinks and oranges – many colors, like my fabulous tail. It is fabulous.
Georgie Girl is all over fabulous. She washes herself. She washes her people. She rolls toward her people and shines her green eyes. She wants her people – her forever people – who are coming here soon to taker her home. She is rearranged and changed. She is amazing now. But – she reserves the right to sit on shelves. It’s what cats do! Please do bring your $100 so Georgie Girl, Cat of Song and Legend can go home with you, fabulous tail and all. She’d like that very much.
PS: I currently reside at THE ADOPTION CENTER (not in foster care). If you can't stop in but would like to know more about me, please call 651-642-5900, ext.3. Thanks!
