Autumn is my time of year. People say I am a long-haired torbie. I say I am an autumn flower – a chrysanthemum, an aster – perhaps a wreath of oak leaves, brown and red. I am the autumn girl of the forest, the haunting face you may see through the shadows of the trees. I am but six years old, and though I know the forest well, I have never been outside. I just know. I know many things that I do not tell. 

I tell these things. I am strong. I am smart. I am self-confident and self-aware. Yes, hand me that cat toy, and I will show you that, if there is prey to be preyed upon, Bella knows how to do it. Bella knows how to draw people into her life. Bella likes people. When people are around Bella, they also like themselves. She gives people pride because she has her pride. She wisely asks you to pet her.  

People say that Bella is beautiful and unusual, that they do not often see a woman of such beauty.  Bella does not doubt this. She knows herself. She admits that she has had offers to grace shampoo bottles and ads with pictures of her luxurious hair. She has turned them down. She prefers love to pay.

 Although I hate to even bring this up, Bella supposes that she had better let you know that, despite her name, she does not mope and fuss and weep over vampires and werewolves. She makes decisions. She is not weak nor confused. And she thinks vampires and werewolves are pure silliness. She wants no part of them. See how she grabs this stuffed cat toy and gives it a chomp and a kick? Come sailing around looking like a bat, you know what I shall do. If you have pointy teeth, go away. Bella has pointed ears, and she does not want you.

 Bella would like very much to go home with you and curl her graciousness upon a cat-sized chair. She prefers peaceful sleeping to photo shoots. I am the Cat of Autumn, the Cat of the Forest, the color of oak leaves. I cannot tell all that I know, but I can tell that, if you come to see me and bring $120, you will have a special flower and warm glow in your life. She will be called Bella.
