“Good day, good day, a good day to adopt a cat!” I am Sprite. I am elegant. I am a black cat – a very black cat – and pleased to be a black lady cat. I have a sister, Shadow, who looks just like me, except she’s bigger. I am dainty – polite and dainty. “I say, I say, a good day to adopt a cat!” 

Shadow and I are ballet dancers. We once danced with the Bolshoi. Really. Notice our fine well-balanced walks, also our upright sable tails. We are sleek and lean. We are elegant. I speak very softly. Ladies do not holler. There are some cats around here who are not ladies. I am not one of them. I call myself an aristocat. Perhaps I am a Russian aristocat – that would explain the Bolshoi, wouldn’t it? 

I am called Sprite because I am small – and spritely, not because I’m a bottle of lemonish pop. Good grief. That would not be at all aristocatic now, would it? I am called Sprite because I’m quite playful and quite cheerful – unless strange cats give me the cat eye. I am not cheerful about that. I am very cheerful about people who enjoy my fine qualities and my sleek black self. You may hold me and feel how soft I am. You will see then my long fine neck as I stretch out to look behind you. Oh, no!  A strange cat – giving me the eye. Oh, no! 

I am a black cat – a very elegant very black cat. I am Sprite, and I like myself. I am Sprite – and I like you! Could we be friends? I am friends with Shadow, my sister, and I’d be happy to be friends with you – and even happier, I think, if you wanted to be friends with both of us. But I am flexible – proud, elegant, aristocatic - but flexible.  How about you bring me a toy or two – or three? I’ll play with you. How about you bring me $100 so I can pay my hotel bill? How about another $100 and pay Shadow’s bill, too? Then we all go home and play – and you will have a good day because you adopted a cat! Maybe even two cats!
