Is it cold outside? Do you feel a bit of a draft when you sit down to relax? Do you think, “Gee, it would be nice to have a sweet, kind kitty with really long warm fur to sit on my lap or next to my feet.” How about you stop thinking about it and come visit me? I am Sassafras, and I have lots of really long warm fur for you – and for me, of course. I’m only about 9 months old, so I’ll be a bit bigger by next winter. Might be able to warm both your lap and your feet!
Sassafras doesn’t mean I’m “sassy”. Far from it. For a teenage feline, I’m quite refined and mellow. I don’t play loud music, and I’m not interested in Justin Bieber. Why would I be? I have far more hair than he does!
My name – Sassafras – comes from a tree that was once prized for its roots. Why would someone name this lovely girl for a tree? Because “Sassafras” is just a fun word to say. Say it. See what I mean? Makes you giggle a bit, doesn’t it? I’d like to make you giggle a bit, too. And then you’ll say, “Awww, Sassafras, you’re so pretty….you’re so sweet….awww….”
Of course, do pet me. Feel my special, plentiful fur, several colors, all blended well. Feel me purring deep down under this wonderful fur. See my kind face. “Ahhh….I stretch toward you. I study you. Hmmm, your lap does look about the right size for a kitty girl….”
Am I a Maine Coon? A Norwegian Forest Cat? A Siberian? You know what? I don’t know. I might be any or all or none of those sorts of cats. I know I’m a mellow, warm, loving little lady and looking for my real home. I know I have lovely white feet. I just washed them. Very clean. Sassafras! Me. Warm fur. Very warm fur. I only know I’m the sort of cat who needs and loves people. “Cats who need people….are the luckiest cats in the world….” Oh, my – did I say that? Ah, but you giggled again, didn’t you?
It’s cold outside. Might get colder. Might go below zero….Oooooo….Cold. Stop over at Feline Rescue today. Bring $100 of warm money, and take Sassafras home with you. We’ll both be warmer and happier. I can’t wait!
PS: I currently reside at THE ADOPTION CENTER (not in foster care). If you can't stop in but would like to know more about me, please call 651-642-5900, ext.3. Thanks!
