I’m a player. I’m a stroller. I’m a student. And I’m a great black guy. I guess you could say I’m one of the “in crowd” here. Cooper and I do non-stop walkabout, keeping our eyes out for all interesting events. I only have one of those – eye, not eyes. I had a close encounter of the worst kind with something in the out, wide world. Whatever it was, it snatched my eye. Really rude, don’t you think? A person rescued me. A veterinarian fixed me up. I’m as good as new and ready to join the crew.
Sometimes, I wonder about the pirate life, though. Get me a shiny purple satin eye patch, start saying, “Aarrgh, mates!”, perch a parrot on my shoulder. Parrot? Wait a minute – that’s a bird! Too complicated. No patch, no parrot. OK, an occasional “Aarrgh!”
Truth is, I’d rather play than pirate. I rock. I roll. I chase all toys. The waving, up in the air kind, oh, yeah. I fly like a wide receiver – paws outstretched – eye focused, and I come down with the toy. Every time. A regular Randy Moss. Ooops! I said bad words, didn’t I? Since he left town, I am the next best entertainment, so you probably ought to sign me now. If you catch me, you’ll discover that I can purr with the very best. And I do slow down and purr. All my strolling and studying is tiring. But I’m learning good things – figuring it all out. Where else are you going to get a great wide receiver for a mere $100? A great one. Me. Please? OK.
