“Little surfer little one, Made my heart come all undone, Do you love me, do you surfer girl, Surfer girl, my little surfer girl….” Yes, indeed! I am Hoba, Calico Surfer, just waiting for you to bring me my boogie board so we can ride the waves. (There must be some waves around here somewhere….I hope.)
Like all true surfer girls, I am laidback and mellow but strong and kind. I’m a pal, a friend, a true blue cat woman who would like to jump in your woodie and ride to Laguna or Port Hueneme (Why–Nee-Me…in case you’re not from around here.) “What? I’m not in California? What? There’s no surf on Lake Calhoun? Are you sure?”
Well, well. How about if we just stay in your place then and play Beach Boys music on your iPod? My favorite is “Little Old Lady from Pasadena”. How about yours? OK – so I’m not all that Old – and I’m more round than Little – but I’m a Lady – and I’ll tell you a secret.
This is my secret: I’m a happy calico surfer, but there’s one special thing that’s even better than catching the perfect wave. It’s getting you to rub my belly! Oh, yeah! Oh, yeah! Listen….I purr…I purr…I chortle…I chortle…Now I purr and chortle. Don’t you just love it? I love it. I may just even love you, too. Oh, yeah!
Here’s another secret: I’d like to be your personal pal, friend, surf buddy. I know. I understand. We are a long, long way from Laguna. It is OK. With no surf in these parts, you certainly need a happy, purring, chortling cat to complete your life. “What? The water freezes for 6 months?” You certainly need a fine, round calico girl to keep you warm then. I could sleep on your bed? On your lap?
I’m Hoba. I’m asking you to show up with $100 and take me home. That’s simple. Clear. I’ll settle for a soft cat bed instead of a boogie board. Truth is, cats don’t really like to get wet.
PS: I currently reside at THE ADOPTION CENTER (not in foster care). If you can't stop in but would like to know more about me, please call 651-642-5900, ext.3. Thanks!
