“Well, well! What do I see? I see a human – sitting in a chair. You know what that means? It means the human has made a lap – and that is a lap in which Jack J. will sit. Right now! Yes.”
I’m not a fancy fellow – just a kind, quiet black-and-white fellow, growing in a little undercoat just in case winter shows up again. I hope it doesn’t, but, if it does, Jack J. wants to be ready. I’m a homebody. If winter comes again, I want to be sitting in your lap, reading a book. People don’t know that we cats can read, but we can – if we want to. So, when you take me home – which you will – pick out something I’ll enjoy. Stories with cats in them are always good. I like the Sneaky Pie Brown mysteries, for example.
Another thing: don’t pay any attention to all those politicians telling you that everything is going to be wonderful….soon. I lost my home because my people lost theirs. It’s still happening. Don’t let them tell you it’s not. Sometimes I listen to the news on that little radio we have here. It’s still happening. I’m an ordinary, good, hardworking cat, and, here I am, looking for a new home.
Do you have my home? I can see that you have a lap – just about my size, too. Not too little, not too big. It fits me. I know because I’m sitting in it. Sitting in laps is what Jack J. does. He also reads books, listens to the news, occasionally chews cat grass, and just loves to be petted. He eats munchies, most kinds of cat food – so long as it’s good food. He can talk but, mostly, he’d just like to keep sitting here, getting a little ear-scratching if you wouldn’t mind.
I think my ears are my best feature. They’re black ears – but they have tufts of white fur inside. I think they make me look distinguished. What do you think? Do you think you’ve got $100 to take this honest, mellow cat guy to his new home? With you. Make me a lap. Jack J. is yours. All yours!
