“Here we are! Here we are! We are siblings. We are smart girl and wild man! If you are needing some fun, amusement, imagination, and affection in your world, here we are! We are Nera – smart black girl – and – Toffee – wild Siamesish guy. Here we are! Wheeah!”
More! Actually we are both Siamesey. See, we’re sister and brother. It’s quite usual for a black cat, especially a black lady, to be half Siamese. Nera insists she’s quiet and doesn’t sing like a Siamese, but I say she could if she wanted to. When we were just wee kittens, our gramma told us about great-great-great aunt Harriet. Harriet’s mom was a grey tabby, but her dad was a solid black dude. Harriet herself was a gentle brown tabby – until she talked. That’s when everyone knew that one of her grandparents was a Serious Siamese.
“We don’t talk like that, do we, Nera?”
“Toffee, dear brother, you talk like anything and everything, most of the time, too, except when you’re leaping high in the air to catch some toy with which some human is entertaining us. And you make chortly noises while you’re doing that, too.”
“Nera, dear sister, you’re not exactly sedate and retiring yourself. True, you don’t walk on the humans and wave your legs at them the way I do, but when you take off across the room and dive under something, you are one fast cat! And then you come flying back out, sail again, and dive under something else!”
“There’s a reason for all that speed, Toffee. I’m hoping Zygi Wilf will notice me and pay me $100,000,000! Not only am I faster than Adrian Peterson, I can also zip right under all those 300 pound tacklers before they even see me.”
“Nera, I don’t want you sat upon by something huge and slow like a tackle. I like you. You’re kin. Let’s work on finding us some wonderful humans who will toss us toys, share food with us, give us warm beds and laps, and tell us how cute we are.”
“Ooh, a good idea! We’re cute. We’re smart, we’re wild. We’re funny. We’re teenagers and proud of it. We could play football – and basketball, too – but we won’t – because we’d rather cuddle up with our new and forever people and purr. How about it? $200 for this charming team of guy and girl, girl and guy, Nera & Toffee! How about it? Wheeah!”
