“See my long, long legs and the tufts atop my ears? A tall tabby girl with tufted ears? What does that tell you about me?”
“Very good! A smart person! My kind of person. Tall tabby girl indeed came here hoping to play with the Lynx. I figured that, with these Lynx-style ears, I’d be a shoo-in for the team. I’d be famous and get me a fine home, and people would cheer and….”
Alas, Hickory looks the part, but she couldn’t get the hang of a basketball. She gave it head butts – excellent soccer moves. She sent it rolling into that nosy Whitey fellow and knocked him over. Fine bowling technique. But toss the ball up and through a hoop? “Why would anyone want to do that?” she said.
So, instead, Hickory is applying for a position as your bestest friend and occasional bodyguard. She believes people are excellent friends, although some person or people did leave her here at Feline Rescue. No, she’s not at all aggressive. It’s just that she knows how to patrol a perimeter – over and under any apparent obstacles.
Hickory also has a regal, long face – makes a lot of people think “sphinx” – and she can use it to stare down anything that needs staring down – like, say, a woodpecker that’s working up a windowsill. She uses her regal tabbiness to pose and to purr and, if someone would hire her, to walk a runway wearing the latest in Lynx fashion.
“I am woman, I say! Woman of long legs and strategic mind. I love being petted and listening to people. I don’t do nonsense, however. I am woman! Not hoochy-koochy kitten. I hope to be your sphinx and Lynx and all things Cat. Never mind the basketball. Let’s just do lunch – and dinner – and breakfast. $120 brings a fine woman into your life. Hickory is waiting!”
PS: I currently reside at THE ADOPTION CENTER (not in foster care). If you can't stop in but would like to know more about me, please call 651-642-5900, ext.3. Thanks!
