“We are brothers. We are orange brothers. We are really still kittens, but we are working on growing up to be pumas. Yes! Pumas! Not just ordinary lions or tigers or lynx, but pumas! Why? Because, if we are pumas, we can sit on this ledge, very quietly, and wait for jackrabbits to come bounding by. And then…Ka-thump, thump, thump…we pounce and bounce and have our dinner.”

“I am Arya. I do the talking for our team, though even I don’t talk a lot. See, if I’m talking, the jackrabbits hear me – with those big floppy ears – and then, off they go. And no dinner. Not good. Surely, you’re not skeptical? Do I, with my little white nose, look as though I could make this up?”

“OK – this is the real truth. We are brothers. Orange brothers. And we are only about 6 months old, which makes us kittens. That much is true. We are quiet. That is also true. However, we’ve been here a few weeks now – and we haven’t seen one single jackrabbit. Friendly, kind humans have been bringing us food – which we appreciate – but we don’t have to pounce it.”

Arya explained that he and Kasumi don’t talk much because they don’t need to. They understand with their ears and talk with their eyes. He claims they do this because they are highly evolved. This may be true – or not. Arya says also that this band of brothers likes people, would like to sit with people, and be cuddled by people.

Kasumi is wary – not scared, just wary. “Humans broke my little cat heart,” he says, “How do I know this won’t happen again? You may pet me, but I must wait awhile to find out if you mean it.”

“I hope you mean it,” he signals, “We would like to come to your home.” Kasumi is also wavy – as in wavy hair on his back. Perhaps great-grandma was a Cornish Rex?

Now we are getting the real truth. These young fellows would like to go home with you – only $200 for two good, highly evolved brothers, who are growing into their long tails, but who, truth be told, will not turn into pumas. Arya and Kasumi will turn into excellent cat friends, however, for their forever people.
