“Howdy. Well, what else would you expect a guy named Tex to say? Howdy. Howdy. I am the original model for the perfect Orange Tabby. There is no Orange Tabby more perfect than I. I am the pride of the lions. Not a pride of lions – the pride of the lions – meaning, quite simply, the lions are very proud that I am one of them.”
“You’ll be proud when I become one with you. I’ll be the pride of the people. Say, that’s not bad for a campaign slogan: “Tex – the Pride of the People”. Should I run for office? A lot of folks doing that these days. Want to be my campaign manager? You know, I look a lot like “Puss in Boots” – right color, right tail. Get me a good sword, and we just might win!”
Yes, please do pet me. I may be a swashbuckling hero, but I am still a Cat. I like people who pet me – all the way from the top of my fine orange head to the tip of my priceless tabby tail. I could be a lap cat – let me be a lap cat. Oh, and keep that tortie woman away from me. She gave me the evil eye – I don’t what that is – but she gave it to me.
I spent quite a while living outdoors, so you’ll notice that I now spend a lot of time sniffing things. That’s how cats learn about their environments. We’re very sensitive about what’s in our environments – only good stuff – that’s what we hope. You look like good stuff. You smell like good stuff – except for a bit of Other Cat on your shoes. We could be good stuff together.
How about it? How about you and Tex? Good stuff. No, I don’t have a hat. I lost it. You know what they say about phony Texans – all hat and no cattle. Well, I’m no hat and no cattle. But I am a wonderful and handsome Orange Tabby. Offer just $120 to my campaign – Pride of the People – and off we go – Good Stuff!
PS: I currently reside at THE ADOPTION CENTER (not in foster care). If you can't stop in but would like to know more about me, please call 651-642-5900, ext.3. Thanks!
