“Let me tell you about Tara. Tara was the ancient seat of power in Ireland. People say that 142 kings reigned from Tara. Tara was also the name of Scarlett O’Hara’s plantation in ‘Gone With the Wind’. So, if you think I might be something of a diva, it’s only because my heritage entitles me to be one.”
“Oh, yes, and I’m stunning to look at – did you notice? But, of course. Green cover girl eyes – I’ve done Vogue, never mind Cat Fancy. And black tabby perfection. Oh, yes – real crop circles just like those at the original Hill of Tara. Have you seen them? Crop circles aren’t mysterious at all – cats create them. Why? Well, I can’t tell you that. An ancient feline mystery….”
“Yes, please do pet my stunning tabby cloak. Feel how soft and sleek I am. I spend a lot of time grooming myself to be soft and sleek so as to be admired and worshipped and – OK – loved, too. I’m worth everything I do for myself. I would, however, also love to be worth everything to my special people. Even divas need love. Even beautiful divas need people. Perhaps we even need love more than others. Think about it. Would you love Tara? Tara would love you back.”
“Try it. Tara would like to sit in your lap. Tara would like to talk to you. Do you feel beautiful with Tara sitting in your lap? Hmmm? Mrrew?”
“Tara does not especially care for other cats. They are plebian. They are ordinary. They scruffle and bounce and can be so undignified. Tara hisses them so that they understand their place. They see her beauty, and they understand. Tara cares for you, though. Tara cares for herself. We could have a wonderful relationship! Please bring $120 to Feline Rescue and establish your permanent connection with Tara’s ancient soul.”
