“Good afternoon. Have you noticed what fine gentlemen we are? Let us assure you; we are fine gentlemen. We are Zeke and Oliver, Oliver and Zeke. We are not Oliver and Stan, not Hardy and Laurel. We are dignifed, gentle gentlemen.”
“We are orange and white, white and orange. We are Dreamsicle cats, and we so much like ourselves this way. We like each other. We like you. We are soft, furry, and pretty large. And we don’t have our front claws, so your furniture is safe. Of course, so are the mice and the box elder bugs.”
“We’d like to join your family. We are peaceful, meditative fellows. We don’t do riot and ruckus – and we don’t like living with beings that do. In other words, well-mannered adult dog – fine. Puppy – even happy puppy, especially happy puppy – not fine. We are pleased with the universe. We intend to continue to be pleased.”
“We suppose you could call us midlife cats, about 6 or 7 years old. We are not having midlife crisis, however. Still, if you offered us a red Porsche or a well-detailed Harley, we wouldn’t mind. But we are not having a midlife crisis, no kind of crisis at all – except we’d really like to join your family and settle down. We’d like to be your family.
“Zeke’s the short-haired buttoned-down fellow; Oliver’s the one with the rock star fur. Oliver has an excellent decorator tail; Zeke has an excellent inquiring mind. Are we brothers? Maybe. Maybe not. We are fine cats, that’s all we are. That’s everything we are. Does your world need a touch of class, a bit of polish, a little finishing? We’ll provide it.
