“Hello! I’m a small and gentle lady with a deep soul – slightly old-fashioned, slightly Biblical, but not at all religious. Oh, every now and then, I pray that the food person will come and bring me something extra special.  And I did a lot of praying when I realized I’d been put in a truck that said ‘Saint Paul Animal Control’ on the door. Yes, the lovely Saraiah you see before you was arrested. Crime? Being a cat, I guess.”

“Do cats believe in God? I don’t think I should talk about that. Mom told me, ‘Saraiah, never discuss religion or politics.’ So I don’t. I discuss food and birds and mice and cat toys and other cats and music and such. I also talk about how much I’d like some real forever people who will love me. Cats believe in Cats! How about that?”

“Sit with me a while, listen to me. Do you hear that little sound? It’s my purr – my well-practiced purr with a tiny squeak behind it. Saraiah’s original sound. Saraiah’s sound for happiness and contentment and love. Appreciate my well-defined grey and white lines, the tiny white tip on my small cat tail, and, especially, my two black freckles on my nose. Two black freckles. Just two. Not very big but not very small. Love me?”

“I am grateful to be here at Feline Rescue. I feel safe now. The food is very good, especially when I was living off of human trash cans. You know, raccoons get all the good stuff in the alleys. My neighbors here are reasonably hospitable, too. They don’t shriek and yowl and sing bawdy songs at 2:00 AM. Still….”

“I am very sure I would be even more grateful if you would adopt me and take me home to be your forever cat. I will always do my special purr for you. I will always be the special cat that I know I am, a little old-fashioned. And I won’t talk politics or religion. Not Saraiah. So would you stop in to visit me – and bring $120 so we can ride into the sunset together – forever, please.”

If you'd like to know more about me, just stop in at the Adoption Center to meet me or leave a message for my secretary at 651-642-5900 ext. 3. She'll call you back.
