Sweet, Good, Mellow, Shy: Seeks Love

“Hi. Hi. I’m sweet and good and mellow and shy – and I’m a big guy with a wonderful tail that, all by itself, is bigger than some of the other cats I see here. Hi. I’m shy. I hide my big sweet head. But, oh, my, do I want love. I can’t think of anything except wanting people who love me, people I can love. Oh, I think I’d better hide my head again.”

I’m black. I’m white. I think I am rather tuxedo. I understand that a tuxedo is a well-dressed cat, and I find myself well-dressed. Nice, soft, long, soothing fur. Nice, soft, long, soothing cat. Did I mention my name is Shamus? Might be an old slang term for a detective. Might be the sound of the Irish name Seamus. Might be both. Might just be the name for a quiet, soft, big tuxedo cat who is waiting to be loved.”

“I am a good, good cat. Not just an OK cat – a good cat. I’m studious and thoughtful, respectable and respectful. It hurts me to tell you this, but my former people just went off and left me. Told this other person, “Keep an eye on the cat,” and off they went. And here I am. It hurts me. I’m a people cat. I need people. And my real people are going to come here and find me and love me and feed me and pet me and tell me how much they like my tail – and my bright, all-knowing yellow eyes. Yes, you are! I believe.

“The name is Shamus, and I believe. I believe not only that you will find me but that, come January, you are going to be oh so appreciative of my big soft, furry self and my tail – on your lap, on your feet, keeping you oh so warm – and me warm, too. Believe – the days are getting shorter….”
