“Hey, there! Hi! The name is Rascal! I’m clever, I’m surprising, but I’m never bad or truly naughty. I’m a good guy. But wait, there’s more! I have excellent tabby colors and stripes above my excellent white feet. I’m friendly and purry – that’s purry, not furry, although I am that, too. You have any food in that bag? Good food for cat? I like food. Hey, I’m Rascal!”

“My whole story? Well, I can tell that, too. It’s really written in my deep soulful face – not just another pretty one, no. A face that says, ‘This is a cat! This is a cat who knows. This is a cat who sees all. A man of mystery.’”

“What do I do when no people are watching? I’ll say this quietly – I write novels. See, before I was so unceremoniously left here at Feline Rescue, I read this great book – well, I thought it was great – The Milagro Bean Field War. I don’t think there was a cat in it, but it got me to thinking that I could do magical realism. ‘Lite’ magical realism, not like Garcia Marquez or something. Just a couple of cat heroes doing penance after knocking St. Francis flat on his face in a catnip field. Want to read it?”

“You’ll have to read it on my laptop – they don’t trust me with a printer – something about being a cat and chewing cords. Would I do that? Look into my soulful eyes….Of course not.”

“Say, would you like to adopt me? Become my agent? Get me a publisher? I could sit in your lap with my laptop and, then, we’d have a laplaptop! Meera! I’m a fine fellow; you’ll like having me in your place. I’ll like being there. One small request: could I have an iPad? One with WiFi? It can be cordfree. Why? Because I want to watch cat videos, of course….Just $120 for the kind people here – and, please, an iPad for me?”

PS: If you'd like to know more about me, just stop in at the Adoption Center to meet me or leave a message for my secretary at 651-642-5900 ext. 3. She'll call you back.
