Goddess of Hearth and Home

“Notice my serene round face. Indeed I am Hestia, goddess of hearth and home. With winter coming, a hearth goddess in your home will keep you and your home warm. Here I am. The very goddess you’d like to keep. Hestia oversees the food that is cooked at the hearth as well as the hearth. It is said that she also receives a portion of every sacrificial meal cooked for the other deities. This may have something to do with the reality that my body is somewhat round, along with my face.”

“My round feminine self is as lovely as a goddess should be. I am a soft tabby with designer markings. Very expensive designer markings – not the kind a Cat can just pick up at K-Mart. No, indeed. I ordered my fine attire direct from Paris – online, of course. Notice particularly my exquisite mask about my face. I admit it is the most expensive piece in my wardrobe. But a goddess is worth it. And, I did mention that I’m a goddess, didn’t I?”  

“ I like people very much. If you would be my special forever people, I’ll even love you. I purr professionally, and I am sweet. A sweet, well-mannered woman – maybe a year or two old – Hestia – goddess of home and hearth, seeking her home and people for whom she brings goodness and kind oversight.”

“Oh, yes, you may gently scratch my lovely round cheeks. Pet my soft rolling self. I would like to be your goddess. I would like to sit in your home, near the hearth, and be admired by all. Confession: this ancient and noble goddess somehow ended up in the arms of animal control. I was embarrassed when it happened, and I am still embarrassed now. How about bringing me $120, posting my bail, and taking me to your place – forever and ever…amen!”
