Outgoing, Sociable but Sensible

“Come in, come in! I’m a mouse-colored girl with white paws and white whiskers, but I assure you I am All Cat. 102% Cat! I greet you. I’m your local extrovert. I come over to you, checking you out. Are you my people? I give you my best cat friend poke. M. Mouse knows that the best way to learn about something is to poke it. Does it move? Does it jump?”

“Ooh, maybe it’s a tree, and I can climb it. Doesn’t look much like a tree. I think it’s a person – a two-legged – but I can still climb it. Yes! Gently, of course. May I climb you? May I hug you? May I squeak, rather like a mouse, with glee because I have a person to my very own self?”

“Pardon me while I do some work on this scratching board. A good cat always needs her personal scratching board – keeps her claws in fine and useful condition. A good cat gives herself regular manicures and pedicures with her scratching board. What do you think? Should I paint my claws white to match my feet? Or crimson glitter for the holidays?

“Oh, you want to know what the M. stands for? Well, well, well – you’ll just have to adopt me to find out! Hee! It does not stand for Mickey or Minnie. That would be so ordinary, and I am just not an Ordinary Cat. Might be Marilyn – or Maggie – or Mehitabel. Mehitabel, there’s a possibility. She was a Cat in the old comic stories ‘Archy and Mehitabel’. Could be. Or could stand for Muskmelon. ‘Muskmelon Mouse’ – has a nice ring to it….”

“I’m outgoing, sociable but sensible, nice to look at, soft to cuddle, looking for a great home with my own personal scratching board. If I do my toes with crimson glitter, I’ll be almost a decoration. But, no – no Santa hat. I don’t do hats, especially not Santa hats! How about $120 and your great home and great self for me? A great deal!”
