“A person! A person! I’ve been sitting here for hours hoping for a person – or two people – or even three – and especially a person who wants to take me home! My elevator pitch: have you ever wanted the Siamese Look without the attitude and the noise? Here I am.”

“The name is, indeed, Tennessee. I’m a fine woman, not necessarily Southern, but not a Yankee, either. I’m friendly, loving and quiet. I’ve lost my front claws, possibly while climbing a tree to escape a bear. But I think it was some human who trimmed off my whiskers! Sorry to say this, but some two-leggeds aren’t sparkling specimens of the species. Now, me, I am sparkling!”

“I love people! I nuzzle on you. I roll on you. I’m thinking you have a lap I could sit in. Would you like a lovely Siamese-looking lady sitting in your lap, purring away with a little joy and bliss? I voted against all that Siamese aloofness. Prancing around, being aloof, and swinging one’s tail does not get a girl the best of food and a cheerful life. This girl wants both. She wants, very simply, to come home with you. There. That’s the truth.

“I call myself Tennessee. No, I’ve never been there, at least not that I remember. But I know that the State Fish is the largemouth bass – tasty critters, yes. And the State Bird is the mockingbird. Don’t get your feathers loose – we cats don’t eat mockingbirds. They dive bomb us every chance they get – don’t even deserve to be eaten. Here I go, jabbering away – not at all my usual quiet self! I guess I really want a home.”

“So here’s my little speech again: Siamese style without Siamese attitude. Love Cat. Lap Cat. Smart Cat – watching big orange dude. He bears watching. Quiet Cat. Friendly Cat. Hugging Cat. Me. Tennessee. $120 – a fair price. No discount for the missing front claws, just a big hug. From me.”
