“Hello, how do you do? I’m trying to be formal because it seems I’m wearing a tuxedo, although I think my bowtie is a bit crooked – and may be more on my nose than around my neck. Oh, well, I’m also a young woman, not a fellow, but, nevertheless, I’m sporting a tux. So, how do you do? I’m a people cat – a quiet one – but a people cat. Listen, you’ll hear me purring – just for you – and I do it well – and loudly.”
“I’m doing well, thank you, but I’m not sure why people left me here. I would not have left them here. Perhaps they had issues. Issues happen – not to cats, though, so far as I can tell. If I could straighten my own tie, I’d be totally pleased with myself. I like me. I also like food. I am hoping that, if I rattle this empty food dish long enough, you’ll get the hint and put food in it. Cat food, please – tuna and chicken and such – no lettuce or quinoa. Oh, OK, you can pet me, sure. I’m a pettable girl – could you straighten my tie while you’re at it?”
“Thank you. I have such a curious mind. I wonder this. I wonder that. I wonder how. I wonder why. I wonder about that really big orange tabby. Do I love him? Do I hate him? He looks at me, and I think he’s inviting me to party. Oh, oh, maybe that’s how my tie became crooked.”
“Maybe you’d better pet me a little more, get me to thinking about a home instead of a party. Notice my alert, absorbing eyes. Theora does not miss much. Theora has striking white whiskers on her black face – and they are on straight. She also wishes to explain that she didn’t get her name from some underground software or app. She borrowed it from Theo and Ora, a couple in Israel who invented a magic ice cream stick. Now who wouldn’t want magic ice cream – on a stick!! And who wouldn’t want Theora to come home with them – only $120 – I might be magic. And I purr.”
