“Hi, I’m young and orange and friendly, and I’m sitting in this box because it’s warm in here and it’s just my size. I once had people – I know I did – but, then, I found myself outdoors. And it got colder and colder, and I got worried. I talked to other creatures, and they said, ‘Seymore, you’ve got to find yourself a safe place, and watch out for humans and dogs.’ The rabbits said, ‘Dig yourself a burrow and hide underground.’ The squirrels said, ‘Nah, a scruffy nest way up in a tree works better.’

“None of that made sense to me. After I’d been outdoors a while, I found some people who would give me food. That seemed good. But they didn’t invite me in. And it kept getting colder. So I decided to take a chance on the friendly humans who brought me here. It says “Feline Rescue” on the door. I’m a Feline. I needed Rescue. So I hope I’m in the right place!”

“I’m safe here, right? People stop to see me, and they pet me and say, ‘You’re a nice, nice boy, aren’t you?’ And I purr to them, ‘Yess, I ammm…’ People offer me food, and I take it. It is good food. I wish I had my people – Seymore’s people – so I could sit with them.”

“Yes, I think I’m cuddly and peaceable, but I’d prefer to stay in this box for a while, just to be sure you’re OK. Are you OK? I see you know how to give a young fellow a chin scratch – that’s good. I see there are toys here for me – that’s good, too.”

“So, just let me be sure you know what I’m saying. I’m hoping for a home – a real home with real people who will love me and spoil me as I would like to be spoiled. I do not want to dig me a home or build me a home way up in a tree. I want my home to be with my people – and made out of people stuff, not dirt and twigs. It will only cost my people $120 – don’t even need a mortgage to provide me a home. I hope I’m in the right place – please come find me!”
