“Uh –roo! Uh-row! Are you looking for me? I’m so cute, cute, cute – and have you ever seen such big blue eyes? Not unless you’ve been watching old Paul Newman movies. I’m friendly and fancy and fun and most purr-able if you’ll hold me.”
“Uh-row? No, I am not a squash! I’m not even green, not outside nor inside. I’m a Cat, and I’m slightly Siamese and slightly Tabby. I’m likely less than a year old. Why do I have a squash name? Well, because the people around here are just as silly as we cats. You may call me “ZuZu” for short, if you’d rather. I probably move too fast for you to say Zucchini, anyway.”
“Squash cats are honest cats. My honesty: I was small and scared and very alone in the big outdoors. I was looking for something to eat, and I met some other cats. One of them, I think, washed me because she felt sorry for me – but, alas, I ended up with the feline leukemia virus. As you can see by my song and dance, I’m not sick. I’m so far from sick, it’s scary. But I do have to be careful with my immune system and not go singing and dancing with germs and with other cats that don’t have the virus. Right now, I share a suite with Kix, also known as Mr. Happy Pants, because he has 422 dances he does to lure humans in here to play with us.”
“I was so scared out there alone. I don’t know how I ended up so alone. But I am a strong, brave girl. I called on all my Siamese and Tabby ancestors, and I said, ‘Guide me, old ones, to my safe place where my forever people will find me.’ My ancestors are good. They brought me here, assured me that I was not a squash, that I was a fine and sassy girl cat. All you have to do is show up here at Feline Rescue with $120, and we’ll go singing off together. (If you want an instant fun pair, consider Kix and me. $230 if you do.)
