“Actually, we’re rather the color of sharks - storm cloud grey – than that of scrawny little fish, and we’re not fish. We are charming, elegant, possibly royal young cat ladies. ‘Sardine’ and ‘Mackerel’ are simply our traveling names. We’re using them until we find our forever people because we want our people to look for our inner beauty – and also our outer beauty – and not just say, ‘Oh, what cute names, let’s take these little dears home!”

“We are sisters, young sisters, and even we can’t tell each other apart. We just know that there are two of us, eight legs, four ears, and two excellent tails. Our aristocratic grey selves would look so elegant on deep red or aubergine velvet. Mauve isn’t quite as elegant, but it’s OK.”

“We like people. We especially like people who pet our lovely grey heads. We still have much learning to do about all the things one must know in order to be a full-fledged, certified Cat. So please pardon us if we seem to be giving more time to understanding what one should do with a glitter ball and whether or not it is acceptable to smash bugs with our feet. We really do like you, honest.”

“Do you like us? We hope so. We are so ready to find our forever people, give up our traveling names, and reveal our forever names to our people. We think fish are just fine – for eating. We also rather like fog. We’ve been noticing some fog through the windows. We like it because, when it’s really thick, like out over the ocean, it’s about the same color as we are. We think we are totally elegant – and totally cute.”

“So, listen, if you like us and are pretty sure we’re your forever cats, why don’t you bring $235 over to Feline Rescue, take us home, and serve us up a big fancy bowl of seafood? Yum! Oh, yum!”
