Round, Fluffy, Happily Black

“Good day, good day! I toddle up to you and say, ‘Hello! I am Anoushka. I am friendly. I love people!’ I toddle after you around the room. Notice me! Like me! (not on Facebook – for real, please) I am round and fluffy and happily black. My legs are short. My body is short – as in not very long. Come to think of it, my tail is pretty short, too.  Anoushka is Russian for ‘Little Anna’, a perfect name for me. I also have tiny feet – tiny dancer feet.”

“Sure, I’m a little old lady, although I’m not all that old – cat middle-aged is what I say. And I’m not always a lady – like when I had to tell that Siamesey snipe that he does not rule the universe. He doesn’t even rule this room! Anoushka explained that to him loud and clear. Anoushka was spoiled rotten in her previous life. She intends to be an only cat again – with all human attention focused on her – because she deserves it.”

“Anoushka loves people. If a people sits down and makes a lap, she’s likely to use it for sitting, purring, maybe even sleeping. I prefer big people to small ones. Big people make better laps. Small ones run around and shriek and pretend they are the center of attention. I am the center of attention. And I’m sweet and kind – except to snipes.”

“Oh, am I loud? Do I have a loud voice? Well, OK, I do. But you don’t live in a monastery, do you? Yes, I sing in the shower. And, no, I don’t usually sing on key. But I sing happy. Because I am happy so long as I have my person and can toddle around and toddle through your kitchen and find good food. A home, a good person, a warm lap, some friendly conversation – and the food. All I need. All I want. Please bring $120 and take Anoushka home to your cozy cat-sized lap.
