Well I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee, And I'm bound for Louisiana, my own true love for to see….” Well, I was bound for Louisiana until I got myself lost in Minneapolis, which is, as I found out, a long, long way from Louisiana. Still, I could have followed the big river all the way down, but I didn’t. ‘Blrrp!’ ‘Blrrp!’ Hi! Hi! I am Banjo, and I do sing. Be my true love?”

“I am tabby and white with very nuanced brown and tan ears. Take a look – my ear color is the work of a master artist, a true colorist. I am proud of these ears. I am friendly. I am soft. I think I’m about a year old, and I think I spent much of that year looking for Louisiana. ‘It did rain all night the day I left, The weather was bone dry, The sun was so hot I froze myself…’ What a life! No more. Banjo likes Minnesota – he is staying.”

“Here’s the question: am I staying with you? I’ll be fun. I move. I groove. I hunt the wily snipe. I hunt the plump green fleece mouse. Blrrp! I nimbly jump, forward, sideways, even backward – I suppose I could be a running back, but I hear tell you’ve already got one. No matter. I am fun. I pounce. I bounce.”

“No, that’s not paint on my back. That’s my natural-born self with a splash of very white fur. Why? So from the air, you’ll know it’s me. You know – like some buses have numbers on the roof. Like you can only see the bird on the Nazca plain from the air. So you can look down from your perch on the refrigerator and know that it’s Banjo going by. What? People don’t perch on refrigerators?”

“My, my, blrrp, blrrp, and raow! So you don’t. But do you have $120 in your pocket? Adopt Banjo! I didn’t really come from Alabama – oh, maybe, I did. Let’s play. Let’s just play! I am ready!”

If you'd like to know more about me, just stop in at the Adoption Center to meet me or leave a message for my secretary at 651-642-5900 ext. 3. She'll call you back.
