Would you like to join me and cool off? I am a lady of sense and dignity. If I were a human, I would always wear a well-tailored hat, and I would sip tea with other ladies wearing well-tailored hats.”

“As a being of the Feline Nation, however, I do not wear a hat. Because I am a lady – and because somehow I lost my front claws – I will not ravage nor chew any hats that belong to my forever people – the forever people I hope very soon to meet. I am soft and calm and you may pet me. In fact, I would most like it if you would.”

“I would like it, too, if you offered me some toys. I am am experienced woman, but my inner kitten is alive and well and would most like a toy or two. Ones that dangle, ones that jingle softly and roll, toys that give me something to do besides sit and think, think and sit, wonder about what I see, wonder about where I am and why I am – and where my real forever people are. Are you there? Do I hear you?”

“I tell you true and truly: I am rather lonely. I know I’ve had people in my life. Now I have no people. Well, that’s not true. I have the people of Feline Rescue, and they are good and kind and speak softly and pet me and remind me that I am a lovely tortie cat. But, you see, they are not My People. Sahara needs Her People. Sahara needs the people or person who will see her sparkling cool eyes and say, ‘Oh, yes, I have been looking for you! You’re mine! I am yours!’
