People stop by and say, ‘Ah, The Lion King!’ I am quite royal in appearance but totally down to earth when it comes to people. I love people, other cats not so much, although I’m not necessarily opposed to them.”

“But people! Oh, yes, I like people. I like to touch their fingers. People fingers are different; they have claws – but no fur. What’s with that? Aren’t you cold without fur? Oh, mittens and gloves, huh. OK. Seems like a lot of fuss to me. Grow some nice fluffy orange and white fur like me. Of course, you could adopt me. Then, in case winter comes back, you could just bury your cold fingers in my fur – and scratch my chin while you’re at it.”

“ Oh, and I should make it clear: I am Ziggy, not Zygi. Zygi owns a football team, and people give him lots of money. Zygi is purple and gold; I am orange and white. I don’t even own a football, much less a whole team full of footballs. All I have is this fine green mouse who does, at least, enhance my orange-ness. On the other hand, I have very pettable ears, and you probably won’t scratch Zygi’s chin. Just mine! My sweet boy dude chin!”

“I do like toys – I like my green mouse and also that crinkle ball. Would you like to see me bat it across the room? I’m good with crinkle balls, not footballs – still don’t want to play for Zygi. I do want to investigate. Some cats investigate with all of their senses. Ziggy investigates with his nose. I learn everything I need to know with one or two good sniffs. So if I sniff you, I’m learning you. And that’s a good thing!”
