“Hi! Woohoo! I am B. Buttercup, and this fine grey gentleman is my best buddy forever, Smokey Mountain. You know the song, ‘On top of Old Smokey, all covered with snow...’ or, maybe, you prefer the Scout version, ‘On top of spaghetti, All covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball, When somebody sneezed.’ Well, whatever, he’s not covered with snow or cheese, he’s covered with stunning deep grey fur.”

“And I, B. Buttercup, have these fabulous, meaningful Feet – not just feet, Feet! Extra toes, lots of extra toes – and I’m orange and white, and I’m friendly. Totally friendly and charming. Smokey Mountain is friendly, too, but a bit more dignified. And, he’s not planning to take over the world as I am because – to take over the world, one needs to be polydactyl – and know how to use all those toes as opposable thumbs. Think I don’t? Watch this – swipe munchie with toes, munchie goes in cat mouth, tastes good. Yum!

“We are happy, happy. I am lovely, and my Smokey Mountain is handsome. When I take over the world, he’s going to be my Chief of Staff. And – the world is going to be a better place – for everybody – because B. Buttercup says so.”

“Oh, I knew you were going to ask. What does the B stand for? Well, if you adopt us, I might tell you. Otherwise, let’s guess! Beautiful? Bonzo? Betsy? Barbie? (Not likely) How about Banana Breath? Adopt us, and I’ll giggle. If you give me tuna, I’ll tell. Me and Smokey Mountain would love to love you. We had some people, but they moved and couldn’t take us with. (That’s how we say it in Minnesota – ‘take with’.)

“So how about you? Will you take us with? We’re each other’s best buddies forever, but we’re looking for a two-legged best buddy – or two. We’ll be a great team – us and you. We’ll sing about ‘Old Smokey’ and, maybe, spaghetti, and all you have to do is come to Feline Rescue with $230 and introduce yourself! Just say, ‘I am here to become best buddy with B. Buttercup and Smokey Mountain.’ The folks will get it.”
