“Hi! Here I come! I’m a sassy woman, and I do intend to rule the world! Now, I’m a bit round, and I do have some stripes – but I am most definitely not green. I’m a classic tabby cat – check out these lovely tiger-striped legs. I say I am fabulous, smart, and occasionally charming. Would you like to pet me? I’d like to rub your leg; I think I will!”
“Why am I called Watermelon? Some of the folks who’ve been here awhile say that, when new cats arrive, the humans get all excited and they get hungry. The humans start thinking about food, and the next thing you know, you end up with a foody name. That orange guy over there? He’s Cantaloupe. And I’m told that even Lasagna was here once. And Ratatouille. So, don’t worry about it. If you adopt me, I’ll probably tell you my real name.”
“I like to play. I also like to run. I’ll be honest: I like to chase these other cats around here. Do you have a pudgy cat who needs a personal trainer? I, Watermelon, will see that she gets plenty of exercise. Do you have stairs? Oh, good – thunder up, thunder down, wheeee! I also jump. I intend to rule the world because I can. Even Tiger Lily says, ‘Yes, ma’am!’ to me.”
“I am quite fond of people. I’m very soft, and people like to pet me. I soothe souls. I’m old enough to be a lady when I want to be and young enough to show spunk and sass. Watermelon is pure cat and proud of it. Take me home and love me. You will know that you are owned by a cat. And a fine cat, too. I’d sit in your window or in your lap. Sing me a lullaby. I might go to sleep – or – fly up the stairs! How about $120 for a lot of colorful fun with a great cat who isn’t green?”
