“Hi, Hi, Hi!! The name’s Mahogany – and I’ve no idea why!  I’m a tabby fellow, through and through, a sprite, a mite, and a moving, grooving bit of a very smart hooligan. Awoo! Aroo! I’ve many more spots than stripes; maybe I’m secretly a leopard – or a jaguar – and, surely, about to become your cat! Awoo!”

“Whatever it may be, if it isn’t chasing me, I am most likely chasing it. I am young. I am a Cat. Can you tell? I pounce, I bounce, and I miss nothing. I chase it. I sniff it. Oh, I am Mahogany, and I’ve no idea why!

I have thoroughly explored, tested, assessed, and assayed this entire room – and all of the beings and objects in it. I’m now ready to move on to your place and do the same thing. It is my job, my calling, my profession. I will now bounce on you – and test you!”

“I look out the window. I peek around corners. I have the face of a leader. I compare myself to my magnificent and much larger cousins who cavort at Wildcat Sanctuary. I’m told one needs to weigh more than 100 pounds to cavort. Little – but powerful – guys like me – we play and pounce. I’d like to grow up to cavort!”

“I have the soul of a king; I can feel it! It is my divine right to sniff the tails of other cats – except those big guys. I don’t sniff tiger tails – nor leopard tails – nor jaguar tails. No, I don’t; I am a smart guy. How come you don’t have a tail? Are you sure you don’t? Maybe I could sniff you and find out?”

“OK, I confess – I’m still rather a teenager. A sass,  a smartypants – and also cute as a bug’s ear – though how anyone knows whether or not a bug’s ear is cute – I certainly don’t! Let’s play; we’ve got some cool toys in here. Want to get down on the floor with me and play? How about you just show up with even more toys and $120 and adopt me? Personally, however cute a bug’s ear may be – I, Mahogany, am cuter!”
